BALI INDONESIA—BEST DAY YET!

  • Today, our group decided to relax and hang out at our hotel:  the Padma Resort Bali at Legian.  What a great decision!
  • After sleeping in, we went down for the free breakfast buffet (included with our room, along with free internet).
  • We hung out in our room for the first half of the day.  I blogged; Bill layed around on the bed and watched TV.  Rough.
  • I managed to get him up to walk the grounds of our amazing hotel and for a quick stroll to the beach.  We walked into town, which is to say we walked about 1.5 blocks.  The heat and humidity were so intense that we were already sweaty, so we stopped at the first bar we found and sat down for a cold beer!  It seemed a far better idea than continuing to walk and sweat.  Yeah, this is vacation!  We returned to the resort and fetched our friends for a dip in the pool.
  • They have the most amazing pools here.  One goes on and on, with several bridges, waterfalls and a huge swim-up bar.  Some rooms have patios with steps that go right into the pool!  What does one do on a hot, humid day in Indonesia?  Drink and swim!  Everyone had such a great time.  Bill met a super cool couple from Australia, Michael and Kirsten.
  • After getting loopy in the water, we all headed out to Kuta for dinner – Michael and Kirsten included!  The eight of us piled into a van and headed out for the night.  Sally sat on Sam’s lap, which provided fodder for jokes all the way into town!
  • We found an excellent restaurant for dinner and continued the fun there.
  • On the way back, Michael entertained us – or should I say tormented the cab driver – with a routine that is ripe for the Comedy Store in LA!  He kept going on about whether that was really the driver’s picture on the license, whether he was licensed at all, how “dodgy” it was and how the police were going to throw us all in jail, etc.  We told the driver he was just released from the mental hospital today, and if he wanted to pull over and let him out, Michael could use the exercise.  It was nutty and fun!
  • Tomorrow morning, we get up early for our flight to Hong Kong!  I think everyone had a perfect time here in Bali; I know that I did!  It was the best day since we left Ft. Lauderdale on January 6th!

    1. NOT sad at all - it was spent with great people, a great environment, great drinks and eats, and lots of laughter and relaxation!! It doesn't matter if you travel to the ends of the Earth - if you can find these things wherever you may be, then you've had a GREAT day!!
